Komi-san wa Komyushou Desu Wiki

Delinquent is the seventy-sixth chapter of Tomohito Oda's Komi Can't Communicate.

Summary[]

Katai introduces himself as a normal highschool student who also has social anxiety and a shy demeanor. He had caught a cold right when school year started, causing him to miss the first week.

Anxious at the thought of arriving at the school after everyone has already made introductions, Katai constantly postponed his starting school until he learned that he missed a whole season, slamming his face on the wall due his frustration.

He decided to make a change over summer vacation, so he worked out to improve himself and dyed his hair blonde in order to avoid getting bullied, and thus, he'd become a normal highschool boy. However, this has caused him to look like a hulking delinquent, making everyone feel intimidated by the aura he irradiates.

Although nervous, Katai eventually reaches his classroom Class 1, but the first reaction was to bump the door with his knee, making everyone at the class to flinch for his "angry" face. (However, he was nervous due the pain and the embarrassing introduction)

He circles around the room and eventually sits by the back, giving everyone a creepy smirk. Everyone at the class quickly assumes that Katai is up to no good, but Tadano realizes that he actually does not know where to sit and went to the back to wait for the teacher.

Najimi arrives and tries to happily approach him, but Katai pulls Najimi out of the classroom to explain that he doesn't want everyone to know about his past, and as a result Najimi doesn't return, causing everyone to think he got rid of Najimi after he gave a creepy smirk to the class again.(in reality, Najimi went to the restroom)

Katai realizes that nobody wanted to talk him(clearly because everyone think he'll kill them all if they attempt to talk him), until he then notices everyone gather over Komi, intending to protect her. However, he assumes they are simply chatting with the popular of the class and tries to approach them.

This caused the class delinquents to protect Komi justo to chicken out and head to their seats after Katai's intimidating aura and muttering(that sounded like he wanted them to die.)

Katai then notices Komi, but instead of finding her attractive, he is intimidated by her (and vice versa). In his panic, Katai ends up sitting in the desk in front of Komi, who in her fright freezes still while staring at him. Noting that Komi is the only person to make direct eye contact with him, Katai recalls something about eye contact from a conversation book he's been reading and believes that Komi wants to communicate with him.

He tries to do so, but also gets petrified as well as Komi. Having seen enough, Tadano decides to salvage the situation and opens up to speak with Katai, offering to give him a tour around school because he has missed a lot of school. Notably touched by the gesture, Katai accepts, making Komi somewhat jealous for the wholesome ambiance.

As they go on the tour, Katai somehow misinterprets Komi's earlier staring as a form of her of trying to teach him how to communicate properly, deeming her a "Communication Master", much to Tadano's confusion.
