Cat Cafe is the eighty-first chapter of Tomohito Oda's Komi Can't Communicate.
Summary[]
Komi is absorbed into a TV commercial about Cat Cafes and for next day, she invites Tadano to go along with Najimi, but Osana bluntly declined the invitation due being allergic to cats and Tadano also declines because he was busy today.
Tadano however suggests Komi to invite someone else, like Onemine, who showed up after the mention. Komi shyly asks her to go to the Cat Cafe, which she immediately accepts, much to Komi's happiness.
At Cat Cafe Gateau, the girls arrived with Otori who came along with Onemine. Komi is utterly fascinated by how cute the cats are and in an attempt to get closer one to them, the cats felt intimidated to her.
While some cats got closer Onemine, she then realizes that none of the cats are visiting Komi, Komi on the other hand was feeling insanely jealous after looking how Otori was popular with cats as every cat in the cafe are surrounding her. Onemine suggests Komi to try petting a sleeping cat, but she was too afraid to disturb its sleep.
The boss cat of this cat cafe, Chocolat has an inner monologue about the people that visit the cafe, expressing her discontent in how humans want to touch the cats without the care for how they feel, therefore she never lets any human to pet her, avoiding them.
She’s interrupted by another cat that warns her of Komi due her spooky aura. Although Komi is also tempted to pet Chocolat, as she loves black cats, she still does not go for it. Chocolat notably feeling a pity for Komi who failed at interacting with the cats, decides to approach Komi, sitting in her lap.
The cat cafe owner notice this and tell Komi that Chocolat usually avoids people, making Komi to meow back to Chocolat. Onemine takes a picture of Komi holding Chocolat and sends it to Tadano who really regrets not going.
It is revealed that Tadano didn't actually have plans, but simply wanted Komi to practice inviting people other than him and Najimi, and now feels this was a mistake. Right after this regret, he agonized over whether to use the photo as his cell phone wallpaper or not for three days.
