Appearance[]
Akira has dark purple hair in a bob cut and purple wide eyes. She wears a red dress over a white top.
Personality[]
Akira is a shy and nervous girl, but unlike her father who has communication problems, she's shown to have more social traits, showing to have initative to start conversations. She shew to have a strong sense of ambition, hinted when she wanted to risk on a hanafuda card game with a dangerous move in order to get more money of allowance from her grandmother in the bets, with her losing because of her own greed.
Akira was originally scared of Shouko before because Shouko's inability to speak resulted in Shouko's silent, constant staring at Akira. After having time together, Akira starts enjoying Shouko's company.
She has a tendency to cry out of loud whenever she's happy, mostly shown when Shouko accepted her invitations to play any kind of games with her during their meetings.
Along with her quirky behaviors, she seems to have a more possessive personality with Shouko, hinted when her first time meeting Tadano lead her to disaprove him at first without even knowing him, and thinking that he's not worth for her; showing a cocky personality, often competing with him in order to show who's closer to Shouko.
However, after aknowledging his qualities, she started to get closer to him and aprove their relationship, although she views Tadano like a buttler-like boyfriend to her cousin Shouko.
History[]
Akira's mother, Ryouko asks Shouko to play with her even though she's really shy as she hasn't seen her cousin in so long. She in question was darting her head from the corner of a hallway until Shouko finally confronts her. This causes Akira to become startled and Shouko is also startled... more so than Akira. So to lighten the situation up, Shouko starts to tickle Akira, which makes her laugh, and asks for her cousin to stop, but she doesn't and ends up on the floor wincing from the experience.
She would soon warm up to Shouko and spend time with her through out the day and toward the end of it enjoyed a board game with her.
The two were also able to become closer during the Obon Festival.
Etymology[]
- Komi means "old, antiquity, ancient time, used, secondhand" (古) (ko) and "see, hopes, chances, idea, opinion, look at, visible" (見) (mi).
- Akira means "clear, crystal" (晶).
Trivia[]
- Akira's design is nearly similar to the japanese urban legend Toire no Hanako-san (トイレの花子 (はなこ)さん, "Hanako of the Toilet") that refers to the spirit of a young girl named Hanako who haunts the woman's restroom.
- A possible reference can be seen in Chapter 45 and in Episode 8 when after getting along well with her cousin Shouko, Akira followed her everywhere, including the restroom, much to Shouko's dismay.
- Akira doesn't like crabs, until tried it for the first time in Chapter 267.
