Appearance[]
Nakanaka has light yellow eyes and straight black hair in a styled bob with a bang that covers her left eye.
At Itan Private High School she sports a chuunibyou-like fashion, covering her left eye with a medical eyepatch, her left hand with bandages, and wearing her black jacket hanging over her shoulders as a cape and a fingerless black glove on her right hand.
Outside school, she dresses in a mild goth style. Later in the series, her medical eyepatch was exchanged with a black/leather eyepatch.
Personality[]
Nakanaka is a chūnibyō who imagines being a reincarnation of a warrior called "Arsot Les Primavera" from a fantasy world, whose roleplay story involves to carry with a "dragon force" within her.
Due this character, she speaks in a dramatic and dubious tone, often showing a very overconfident and sort of megalomaniac personality, labeling others as "normies" or "plebes" just to feel superior to others.
However, despite this extrovert and confident persona, her chuunibyou character only hids an introvert and lonely girl who hadn't had any friends since elementary school.[2] Utilizing her imagination to cope with her feelings of isolation.
It can be shown that when someone might be interested in her fictional stories, she can feel ashamed for explaining her own roleplay to others.[3] And as an addition, she can feel embarrassed when she's caught off guard.[4]
Nakanaka is socially awkward and does not really know how to interact with other people.[5]. However, this does not refrain her from managing to be friends with Ojousa Mako, Hanya Tonatsu, and Bosa Towa (although this was with the unintended help of Yamai Ren.)
Omoharu appreciates the company and affection of those who have any kind of bond with her and often is a good host when comes to have fun with guests like friends[6][7] or family members at her room.[8]
There are times that she breaks from her chūnibyō personality whenever she gets nervous or the situation overwhelms her.
Nakanaka has also shown to have fun at solving mysteries such as when she started to find clues and solve a combination lock after looking at some decorations at Otori Kaede's mansion.
Nakanaka has shown to have a musical singing talent, forming the band Perro Rabioso along with Yamai, Ojousa, Hanya and Bosa, which seemed to be a good source to forge a strong bond with her friends as well as having a more centered-thinking in the present.
Although her friendship with Yamai is tense, Nakanaka has shown a certain degree of concern for her and support her, like when Nakanaka and the bandmates gave Yamai moral support after Komi was dating with Tadano.[9] and or when Yamai caught a severe cold and Nakanaka suggested her bandmates and Komi to stay a little more so Yamai wouldn't feel lonely.[10]
History[]
Year 1[]
Nakanaka at first attempts to become friends with Shouko in the only way she knows how: in a weird way. Saying her "Dragon Force" is reacting, she asks Shouko to take her hand. Shouko doesn't understand. After seeing Nakanaka alone and partner-less during PE, she walks over and offers to be her partner. Nakanaka later invites Komi over to play games (her first visitor since elementary school) Najimi & Tadano join as well.
During the sports festival, Nakanaka has to reluctantly find a sweet in potato starch. Shortly afterwards, Nakanaka and Yamai ask Tadano to help them work out what Komi is thinking (neither knows what she is thinking) this is the beginning of Yamai and Nakanaka's tense friendship.
Ren joins Tadano, Najimi & Komi at Nakanaka's house to study, though it quickly devolves into Ren & Nakanaka trading insults as both vie for Komi's affection to which she responds that both are important to her.
At Komi's birthday party, Nakanaka tries to get Yamai to spin around and bark like a dog in a game of 'Who is the King?', though this backfires as Yamai was holding her stick upside down resulting in Tadano having to complete the order.
She is then paired up with Yamai & Agari for the Class 1 school trip, she then obtains a sword and Shinsengumi outfit at Kyoto.
Year 2[]
Starting in Year 2, Nakanaka is separated from all of her friends from Class 1 bar Yamai, who mocks her inability to make new friends, Nakanaka is then able to make friends with Bosa, Ojosa & Hanya.
Later on in Year 2, when Ojosa, Hanya and Bosa decide to form a band for the culture festival, Nakanaka is invited to join, along with choosing the name Perro Rabioso, though she isn't pleased about Yamai helping out. Thankfully their performance does end up going to plan, despite the Ojosa trio's lack of musical talent.
She later teams up with Komi, Manbagi, Onemine & Otori to help find Otori's mother and is able to help out with the puzzles through the use of her eidetic memory.
For Komi's 17th birthday, Yamai hosts a Swamp Bros tournament with her, Nakanaka, Kometani & Sasaki ending up in the finals, after Kometani and Sasaki K.O each other, Nakanaka throws the fight as she doesn't desire the slap from Komi, giving the win to Yamai.
On the Year 2 field trip to New York, Nakanaka is paired up with her fellow bandmates and Lily Sukida, though as per usual she ends up falling out with Yamai.
When everyone finds out Komi and Tadano are dating, Nakanaka and her bandmates go to console Yamai after she takes time off from school upon hearing about the news. When Komi arrives, they're all promptly booted outside to make way for her, they try to hold back Yamai's impulses but to no avail.
Year 3[]
Going into Year 3, Nakanaka is still with Yamai but is rejoined with many of her classmates from Year 1 including Kato, Sasaki, Katai and Onemine.
Nakanaka plays an important role in the Battle Royale, with both her and Yamai going toe-to-toe with Suteno and the other 2nd years, despite both trying to leave each other for dead after duelling Suteno, who Yamai jokes is related to Nakanaka since both have bandages and overly dramatic personalities. Upon reaching Hajime's classroom both start bickering about each others one-liners before fending off the hoard of students.
Later on, all of Perro Rabioso qualify in the top 50 students to go to the Summer Study Camp though Nakanaka is very much in the background of this arc. When Komi returns home to find Kawai and co, Yamai & Nakanaka arrive after Komi didn't come to the party after the final showdown between the schools. They both duel with Kawai in a game of Swamp Bros, to which Kawai beats both the seasoned players.
Nakanaka and her bandmates go to the summer festival but keep their distance from Komi, Tadano and Kawai.
When Yamai catches a cold, Nakanaka and her bandmates go to her apartment to check in on her, much to Nakanaka's feigned disinterest, revealing that Nakanaka does care about Yamai to an extent.
Trivia[]
- Her surname, Nakanaka, is from the word "Chuu" in Chuunibyou, which is the same as "Naka", a common otaku lexicon. This is further reinforced by her given name, which consists of the kanji 思 ("believe, imagine, dream") and 春 ("spring; adolescence, puberty"), alluding to chuunibyou being the state of an adolescent having delusions of grandeur.
- She purchased a wooden sword during her school trip to Kyoto and named it "Darkness Kikuichimonji."
- Her idea for the Cultural Festival was to have a band, though her ulterior motive was to hear Shouko's singing voice.
- Nakanaka thinks that posting pictures of the sky in the social media is pointless and whoever who do it are weeds.[12]
- Although she says she's not into sweets, she really loves them.[13]
- This can be obviously shown after only eating mostly junk food for the whole day.[14]
- When Tomohito Oda, the author of the series, was asked about if the figure toys, gaming setup and other otaku themed posters that Nakanaka had in her room were with a part-time job or an allowance from her parents, Oda responds that she's a very pampered girl.
- Nakanaka often plays a mobile MMO game called "PGO", which is a parody on Fate/Grand Order, or "FGO" for short.
