Hafuru Ogiya (荻谷 把布留, Ogiya Hafuru) is a male student from Komi Shouko's class in year three at Itan Private High School as well as her 80th friend.
Appearance[]
Ogiya is a tall and handsome young man with slanted wide eyes, a well kept haircut parted on his right, leaving his forehead exposed and bits of his hair combed in a wave, covering his left side.
Due his baby behavior, he's always sucking on a pacifier while wearing a bib with his school and sports uniform.
Personality[]
Ogiya is a reserved young man who only communicates through babbling or saying common baby lines. However, despite this behavior, he's shown to be smart, athletic and self-sufficient as a student and as a person, often talking straight to the point (albeit nobody would understand his babbling).
Because of his past at middle school where he was stalked and confronted due his good looking appearance, he kept himself reluctant to make friends or interact with other people in high school. That also includes dating with girls or sharing time with his classmates. This trait made him look like a cold person towards others, but not foreshadowing his cool and good looking appearance.
However, after he became friends with Hitohito Tadano in 3rd year, he became more attached to him at the point to see him as a fatherly figure or calling him "Papa". This friendship made him realize he was being rude with Komi after her attempt to become his friend when they met for the first time, even if she didn't perceive his rejection as it was.
After settling things up with Komi in Chapter 417, learning that they both had a lot in common as both dealt with a similar scenario, he started to admire her for being strong towards her own communication limitations and never giving up as he did. Therefore, he started to see her like a motherly figure, calling her "Mama" and wishing to reborn and become Tadano and Komi's son.
This new motivation lead him to become a more sociable person (Even if he's still talking like a baby), supporting Fuki Yo during his failures during Sports Festival and or sharing time of quality with his classmates as well as being there to support Tadano along with his other friends.
In Chapter 456, he's shown to be a good singer at karaoke, although he was babbling as usual, it's commented that he's on pitch.
Background[]
Before joining the Itan Private High School, Ogiya was inadvertently popular at junior high school for being good looking. However, this popularity wasn't rewarding for Hafuru in any mean, leading him to be in a severe struggle since people started to take pictures of him without his permission, spreading rumors about who he was dating, boys accusing him of stealing their girlfriends and having to confront several stalkers almost everyday.
As a result of these traumatic events in junior high, he decided to act like a baby, so everyone would leave him alone. And this behaviur was successful during high school, but at the cost to not to make friends until 3rd year when he became Tadano's friend.
After sharing time with Hitohito, he decided to call Komi to settle things up with her at the Itan's Tea Club; shortly after telling her about his past experiences and how both are similar with the struggles they had to deal, with the difference that Komi never gave up on her communication issues unlike himself, remarking that she's an admirable young woman.
Komi on the other hand, shared with him her past experience at middle school and requested him to become her friend, which Hafuru wasn't sure due his fear to relate with people.
Without accepting a no as a response, Komi managed to convince him, becoming his 80th friend on the list. Later that day, Ogiya had a goal in life, to reborn as Shouko Komi and Hitohito Tadano's son.
Lately in the series, he became more social with his classmates and or stood there to support and cheer Hitohito Tadano during each of some special events, such as Sports and Cultural Festival, his duel against Kanchi Gai and for his National University Exam.
